Violin, Viola
Mehmet Aydin (Violinist and Violist) has appeared internationally as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. He has given frequent recitals at a variety of venues in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Michigan, New York, Italy, Switzerland and Turkey. He has been a featured soloist with the San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra, Fairfield County Symphony and the Young Artists Philharmonic. Aydin won 1st prize at the Greenwich Center for Chamber Music competition with his performance of the Brahms Sonata, 1st prize at Fairfield County Composers Showcase ‘Best Composition’ for his Fantasy for Viola and Piano, and an honorable mention for a performance of the Schumann Piano Quintet at the Summit Festival.
He was appointed principal viola with the San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra, Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, Kamerata Istanbul, the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra and assistant principal viola with the Istanbul Chamber Orchestra and the Red Bull Artsehcro. As a section violist, Aydin has performed with the Istanbul Philharmonic, Istanbul Symphony Orchestra as well as Napa Valley, Monterey, San Jose, New Bedford, and Brockton Symphony Orchestras.
Mr. Aydin holds a Master of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory, Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory and a pre-college diploma from the Juilliard school. He has taught a broad range of students with a strive to inspire and let his students find their love for music. His principal teachers include Jodi Levitz, Marcus Thompson, Eugene Becker, Sue Corey, Victor Lionti, Koral Calgan and Bediz Kocak.
