Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone

Abe Silverman has extensivAbe Silvermane teaching experience, having taught flute and woodwinds for eleven years in New York City Public Schools and twenty-five years in Tarrytown Public Schools. He has a B.S. from Suny Fredonia and an M.A. from NYU, with postgraduate study at CCNY, Hunter, and Manhattan School of Music. He has performed with the National Orchestral Association Orchestra at Carnegie Hall and on WNYC radio, Town Hall, Greenwich Village Symphony, Les Deux Magots Chamber Ensemble, and the 92nd St.YMHA Orchestra. Jazz credits include work with jazz greats Paul Knopf, Louis Ramirez, Ray Terraace, Philipe Yanez, Bobby Woodland, Al Israel, Johnny Fernandez, Dan Schram, and others. He has recorded on Prestige, Collectors Guild, Mercury with Lou Soloff, and his own Dream Theme label.

Club dates include work with Hal Prince, Herb Rose, Paul Baron, Steven Scott, Roger Stanley, herb Sherry, and others. He has performed in many off Broadway musicals, including West Side Story, Oklahoma, Guys & Dolls, Mame, Gypsy, Finian’s Rainbow, Hello Dolly, Peter Pan, Pajama Game, South Pacific, Minnie’s Boys, and The Wiz. He is the leader of a Big Band in NYC, and has led jazz bands at River Tavern Jazz Club, Defemio’s, Isabel’s, Shadowbrook, in Atlantic City, the Adirondacks, and the Catskills. He was a member of the U.S. Navy Band at Guantanamo Bay.
